"Great Sounding" Singer Now Becomes The Captivating Performer
Who Every Top-Notch Musician
Wants to Work With!
Yes, Today From The Comfort Of Your Own Home, You're About To Learn The "Secret" Skills To Arrange, Improvise And Create New Exciting Renditions Of Songs, Attract And Lead Extraordinary Musicians, To Become A Far More Confident, Innovative, And Captivating Performer!
Imagine getting the chance to step on stage and jam with world-class musicians… And even though you’ve never met them before, you lead them through an innovative, spontaneous and magical rendition of your chosen song.
…and as you hit the final note, the audience erupts, while the band members smile in awe…
They’ve know, they've just participated in something really special…… and it had nothing to do with the quality of your voice.
Hello, I'm Matt Baker
From being an award winner in the Montreux International Solo Jazz Piano competition, and being called the “The Australian Piano Whiz” by The New York Times, I’ve now had the honor of playing with world-class musicians all over the world.
I’ve probably accompanied a thousand or so singers by now, including stars like Pattie LaBelle, Jennifer Holiday, Judy Collins, Ann Hampton Callaway and the who’s who of the jazz world who love to join our gigs in New York when they’re in town.
But we also love to provide newcomers and up-and-coming artists the opportunity to sing with us.
And here’s where I’ve noticed a big and very common problem…
The True Difference Between
The In-Demand Singer
And The Singer Who Falls Short
You see, singers might have terrific voices, but there are sometimes things they simply don’t know.
And as a result, their performances (and careers) fall short.
In fact, I’ve seen far too many singers walk off stage trying to keep their head high after a performance, but are hurting inside.
They know they missed out on an opportunity, and I really feel for them. And what has frustrated me the most is that I know the solution.
Here's How You'll Quickly Become
A Completely Different Calibre Of Singer
Let’s take a song out of the “Great American Songbook”, or some other well-known song out there, as an example.
Well, this song can be done hundreds of different ways.
You, as the singer, might have an idea of how you would like to do it, but how do you get the musicians to play it the way you want?
Well, most singers understand that they need to be able to tell what key they want the song in, and be able to count off the song too.
How To Get What You Want
From Your Musicians
But, there is a lot more needed in addition to being able to count off a song in the right tempo. And even there, many still get lost.
I’ve been part of too many embarrassing moments when the singer counted in a tempo he/she/they didn’t really want, or did so but wasn’t sure when to come in.
But in addition to setting the tempo, let's explore what else is needed...
The Magic Of Groove And Feel,
And Making The Song Your Own
Â
So what is the feel?
Do we want a swing or shuffle, or a bossa, Charleston or a New Orleans feel?
Or do we want to make it a burner?
The options are numerous. Any song can be done in many ways, and that's what makes it so exciting. That's what makes a song YOUR OWN version.
But you have to be able to effectively communicate this with the musicians – whether you meet them for the first time at an open mic situation, or rehearse with them in advance.
Â
How To Lead Intros, Endings, Tags, Solos And
Everything In Between, For An Electrifying Rendition
Â
Now what kind of intro do you want? Do you want the band to vamp on a I-VII, give you the last eight, do a descending flat 5 intro, or what?
Double tempo or double feel? (What's the difference?). Or do you want to start with just bass?
You see, the pro singer steps up on stage and gives us this in 15 seconds. And then, we’re off to the races.
Now, do we go AABA? You want someone to take a solo? Want to scat with the bass player, or trade with the drummer? And then, back to the head and coda?
Oooo now there’s music happening! You've set us musicians on fire! You've got the audience in the palm of your hand!
And then what kind of ending? A Basie ending, a vamp, a turnaround, or what? You can even give us this in real time with your subtle but crystal clear eye and hand cues, and we'll be with you.
And BAM! We nail that crowd-pleasing ending that seals an electrifying performance. And the audience goes wild!
Now You Become The True Leader Of The Band,
Whether You’ve Met Them Before Or Not!
Yes, the pro singer leads us. We love you to lead us!
We don’t want to have to cover up because the singer is insecure and doesn’t know what to do or can't give clear directions.
Far too often the singer becomes lost, has to look at us constantly with puzzlement, and as a result loses the connection with the audience.
And it's simply because singers have never been taught this kind of musicianship. And if they have a basic knowledge, they are maybe not good at executing it.
Sound familar?
Well, I have good news, very good news....
The Musicianship And The "Secret" Non-Verbal Communication Skills That Put You In A Different League
Â
You see, you are about to learn all this and much, much more, including the “secret” non-verbal communication skills that are absolutely vital, in a powerful and easy way that has never before been available to the general public.
In fact, the only way you could learn this in the past was from decades of on-the-job experience.
Yes! - You know that - these skills are usually not taught in singing lessons, but are learned slowly over time, on the gig, by making mistakes and learning the hard (and embarrassing) way!
I've taught this stuff to private students and the effect on their levels of joy of singing/performing, as well as on their careers, have been phenomenal. But I simply don't have time for one-on-one coaching. Nor does anyone else of that caliber.
So that's why I, together with THREE extraordinary singers and a full band have created this jam-packed and entertaining home study program that we call The Ultimate Live Singer
Yes, this comprehensive program consists of numerous modules with many videos. It was filmed at the legendary Rudy Van Gelder recording studios in New York, with a top-notch 3-piece band and three of the world's top live performing vocalists.
Before I go through the details of the training, allow me to introduce you to the singers you will learn from, and who you will see and hear in action - (which makes it not only educating but exceptionally entertaining).
So what's so special aboutÂ
